During today’s Safety Talk Monday, Mark discussed the importance of communicating with others in the work place. When a workplace involves multiple people and heavy equipment it is good practice to look out for hazards other people may encounter.
Steps to staying safe:
- Communicate your intentions: Let people around you know what you are doing so they are aware.
- Plan ahead: Always look ahead at the task and identify hazards or potential risks.
- Make eye contact: A simple rule of thumb is to make eye contact with people around your work area. Eye contact automatically tells you that both individuals know where you are.
- Due Diligence: It is encouraged to show or identify potential risks. It is key to know before rather than after a incident occurs.
